KPMG Wellness Webinar Series

KPMG partnered with Companion Health to deliver virtual wellness education to more than 10,000 audit professionals across the U.S. Over three years and fourteen sessions, the program evolved from a live webinar series to a podcast-style video series, with each season shaped by what we learned from the one before.

2023 and 2024: Live Webinar Series

Each season included five webinars delivered by Nathalie, Carlos, and the Companion Health coaching team. Prior to each webinar, Companion Health worked with KPMG's HR team to create related "mini-challenges" to increase engagement. In follow-up surveys, many professionals reported positive outcomes and planned to continue incorporating bite-sized, actionable strategies into their busy lives.

Mindset, Stress, and Recovery

This webinar was oriented around the two things we can control in life: our mindset and our actions. It emphasized how small, daily steps can compound over time to positively impact our mindset and health "wealth," much like regular retirement account investing. Other topics included the interplay between genetics and epigenetics, the stress response and its physiological impact on our different organ systems, and actionable stress management techniques for busy professionals. The session also included a live breathwork activity, allowing participants to experience firsthand the shift that can occur in the body within minutes of focused breathing.

Nutrition

Balancing a demanding career with healthy habits can be challenging, especially when faced with travel, late-night schedules, and working lunches. For many professionals, convenience foods become the default choice. This webinar covered gut health, one-size-fits-all diet culture, the benefits of fiber and a whole foods approach, the risks of added sugar, and the importance of hydrating with water.

Physical Activity

One of the main goals of this presentation was to broaden the definition of physical activity and its benefits. We often associate physical activity with exercise, burning calories, sweating, and going to the gym. But physical activity is so much more than having a "fit" body. It positively impacts our mental health and can be part of daily living, like deep cleaning a house or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Regular movement is a powerful tool for overall well-being, particularly for professionals in high-stress environments. The session included a live exercise routine participants could do at their desks in just a few minutes.

Sleep

Busy professionals often sacrifice sleep to get more work done, but therein lies the irony. Regularly getting too little sleep, or poor quality sleep, can negatively impact the quality of our work, our ability to learn, and our physical and mental health to boot. By prioritizing sleep, we can often get more done and improve our health at the same time. This webinar detailed specific sleep hygiene tactics, such as keeping a regular sleep and wake schedule, setting up the right sleep environment, and considering supplementation based on individual needs.

Health, Aging, and Connection

When we think about aging, we often overlook the role relationships and community play in our long-term health. In this webinar, we shared quantitative and qualitative data on the impact social connection has on our physical and mental health, and ultimately on how we age. Other topics included a more expansive definition of aging than chronological age, the difference between lifespan and healthspan, and what we can all learn from the Blue Zones, the regions of the world where people live longer, healthier lives than average.

2025: Podcast-Style Video Series

In 2025, we refreshed the format into a series of virtual wellness talks recorded on video in a podcast-style, question-and-answer format. Each episode featured a member of the Companion Health team speaking on a single topic in depth.

Recharging During Time Off, with Nathalie Jorge, CEO

Chronic stress has become so normalized that most of us no longer notice it. Our nervous systems were designed for predictability and connection, and our world has changed faster than human evolution. In this episode, Nathalie reframed rest as a skill and a basic need rather than a luxury. Unlike our phones, we can't drain to 2% and recharge to full in a couple of hours, and we only get one brain and one body. She shared how to gauge our energy when our internal signals have been dulled, including physical symptoms, behavioral clues, feedback from others, and whether there is still room for joy. The conversation also covered stress addiction, guilt around downtime, the mental scripts that block recovery before it begins, and how to plan a smoother return to work.

Focus: The Science, the Struggle, and the Solutions, with Anya Wallace, PA-C

Attention may be our scarcest resource, and the modern workplace often seems designed to scatter it. In this episode, Anya explained the biology of focus, from the brain regions and chemical messengers that direct our attention to the sleep, light, and 90-minute energy cycles that shape it. She shared practical ways to improve focus naturally through sleep, nutrition, movement, a focus-friendly workspace, and techniques like time-blocking and single-tasking. The conversation then turned to ADHD, which is less a lack of attention than inconsistent attention regulation. Anya addressed common myths, how ADHD can show up differently in adults and children and in women and men, its unique strengths and struggles, and the range of treatment and support options. The takeaway: focus is a skill rather than a fixed trait, and a brain that struggles to focus isn't broken.

Gut Health, with a Companion Health health coach

Gut health has moved from the margins to the mainstream, and for good reason. In this episode, we defined what "gut health" and the "gut microbiome" actually mean, describing the microbiome as an inner garden that thrives or struggles depending on how we tend it. We explored the practical connection between the gut and energy, focus, and work performance, and how chronic work stress takes a toll on digestion. Rather than an overhaul, the conversation focused on the common mistakes busy professionals make, "minimum viable" changes that fit a demanding schedule, and choosing a single high-ROI habit to focus on for 30 days. The episode closed with warning signs that gut health may be affecting performance.

Functional Medicine: Managing the Noise in Wellness and Longevity News, with Carlos Jorge, MD

Wellness and longevity headlines move fast, and it can be hard to tell what is promising, what is premature, and what is simply marketing. In this episode, Carlos shared how a functional medicine physician evaluates the trends getting the most attention, including hot and cold therapy, supplements, peptide, hormone, and IV therapies, and mitochondrial health. He also brought back insights from the Longevity Med Summit in Lisbon, where he presented alongside longevity doctors and researchers from 41 countries. The throughline: new tools can have a place, but they work best on a foundation of the basics and in the context of each person's individual health.
