FAQ

Functional medicine is root cause medicine. It entails identifying and addressing the underlying causes of health issues through evidence-based diagnostic testing, specific supplementation, targeted medications and lifestyle changes. Functional medicine is best achieved with a committed care team with a trained medical provider and continuous monitoring to help you live your best, healthiest and most successful life.

At Companion Health, concierge medicine means direct access to your doctor via their mobile phone, including text messaging. It means elite care including a strategic, personalized plan to integratively optimize both your physical and mental health. It means continuous monitoring through regular, ongoing provider visits (not just sick visits) to improve your health successes every quarter, year after year. Concierge at Companion Health means you have companions on your journey … a committed care team, including health coaches, who help you identify and execute changes so you can live your best, healthiest, and most successful life.

We do not accept health insurance for our services. However, we will help you use your insurance outside of our practice for certain services. Examples: we assist you with referrals and prior authorizations for medications, imaging, and specialists. We will also assist you in using your insurance for medications prescribed by us. We will advocate on your behalf to help get those prescriptions covered.

Many of our clients successfully use their FSA/HSA funds to pay for our services. We encourage you to check with your health benefits plan administrator to understand your options.

We offer cutting-edge, evidence-based functional & longevity medicine testing and therapies that are not covered by insurance. And we meet with you regularly, not just when you are sick.

Take your “typical” doctor appointment and flip it to what you would love it to be: more time with a doctor who knows you, and who knows your history. These are the types of appointments our clients experience, and that time commitment is not covered by insurance.

Just like you do not use your auto insurance to change your car’s tires or the engine oil, health insurance is also not designed to cover your own maintenance. You invest your own money in your car to help it run better for longer. We want to help you live longer and live better by investing in yourself and your health!

We do not provide a-la-carte services. We approach health holistically, one client at a time. Our integrative approach means that in order to help you achieve optimal health, we need to really get to know you as an individual and address and monitor all aspects of your health. We offer private concierge memberships to support the whole you, not just a part of you. And we customize our care to best meet your unique needs versus offering one-size-fits-all solutions.

We do not offer family discounts. We spend a significant amount of time getting to know each and every client as an individual. We customize our care to best meet each family member’s unique needs versus offering one-size-fits-all solutions.

We offer extensive conventional and functional medicine testing. Our comprehensive baseline blood tests include: CBC, CMP, TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Lipid Panel, Hemoglobin A1-C, PSA (for men). We also offer ZRT Hormone, ZRT Heavy Metals, Alletess or Cyrex Food Sensitivities, Cleveland Heart Advanced Cardiovascular Labs, Advanced Diagnostic Solutions or Genova Gut Testing, Galleri Cancer Detection, Great Plains Mycotoxins (mold testing), advanced blood panels (hormones, thyroid, etc.) and many more.

Just like our programs, our testing is based on you.

A health coach is a guide and accountability partner who empowers you to take responsibility for your own health. In collaboration with your doctor, they support you in making positive changes to achieve your personal wellness goals. Key areas of focus include: sleep, stress management, physical activity, connection, nutrition, and toxin minimization. Our health coaches work hand-in-hand with your provider to support your health success.

One of the key drivers of health is human connection. A health coach focuses 100% on you and  your unique health circumstances to help you make sustainable lifestyle changes. As your personal guide, they help you navigate all of the conflicting health information to identify and implement what works best for you. There are no one-size-fits-all diets, sleep schedules, stress reduction strategies, or exercise programs. Our health coaches work collaboratively with your provider to make sure you are achieving your health goals.

No, our medical providers can serve as your primary care physician. Unless you specifically want to maintain a separate relationship with your general practitioner, our medical providers are here to address all your primary care needs. From flu vaccines to annual pap smears to medical notes and forms, we have you covered.

Our programs are designed to meet each individual client’s health needs and goals. We do not have a “one plan fits all”. Each client begins with an initial consultation, a 90+ minute meeting with one of our providers. This is a perfect opportunity for you to share your wellness goals and ask lots of questions to see if we are a good fit for your ongoing medical needs. This initial appointment costs $950.

At the end of the initial consultation, the provider will share with you thoughts on what program best fits your specific needs and goals. All  programs all include a one-time registration fee to cover diagnostic testing, health coaching, research and planning for the best care for you. Moving forward, each client pays a monthly fee. Because all of our programs are individualized to your specific needs and goals, our pricing also varies by client. Many of us think we are healthier than we are because we rarely get sick or “need” to go to the doctor. But most of us aren’t taking all the necessary steps today to benefit our health 10, 20, even 30 years out. Instead, we find ourselves “too busy” to prioritize our own self-care. Our jobs, our kids, and an endless list of to-do’s get in the way of us taking optimal care of ourselves. But good (or bad) health doesn’t happen overnight. It is years in the making, and it’s never too late to start!

At Companion Health, our medical providers and health coaches meet with you regularly (not just when you are sick) to create a strategic plan to help you achieve your unique health goals, monitor your progress, and make modifications along the way. Most of us spend more time planning for our financial wealth than our health wealth. Consider the cost of avoiding a preventable disease, the value of early detection and intervention, and ready access to a doctor and care team who knows you and whose #1 priority is your health. Is there a better investment than your health?

Nope! Your success is our success, and you are not locked into a program.

When you are ready to invest in yourself, we are ready to help you! Please either call our office at 704.360.5081 or contact us to learn more, ask us any questions, or to make an initial consultation appointment.
